Ads That I Recall . . .

. . .without really trying, which is a little bit embarrassing, but makes the point:  none of us are immune to these things.  In no particular order then . . .

Ad Songs and Slogans

• Alka Seltzer:  Plop, plop, fizz, fizz, oh what a relief it is.

• Rolaids:  How do you spell relief:  ROLAIDS.

• Alka Seltzer:  I Can't Believe I Ate the WHOLE thing.

• Wendy's: Where's the Beef?

• Coke: I Want to Teach the World to Sing.

• Pepsi: The Pepsi Generation.

• Coke:  It's the real thing.

• MacDonald's: Two all beef patties, special sauce, lettuce, cheese, pickles, onions, on a sesame seed bun.

• Burger King: Have it your way.

• Nike: Just Do It.

• Anti-Drug Campaign: This is your brain on drugs. (Egg cracked into hot frying pan.

• Jif Peanut Butter: Choosy mothers choose Jif.

• Oscar Mayer Bologna:  My bologna has a first name, it's OSCAR, my bologna has a second name it's MAYER.  Oh, I like to eat it everyday, and if you ask me why I'll say, "Cause Oscar Mayer has a way with BOLOGNA."

• Oldsmobile:  Not your father's Oldsmobile.

• Pillsbury: Lovin' in the oven.

• M&M's:  Melts in your mouth, not in your hands.

• Empire: 588-2300 (Most everyone who grew up in the Chicago area has that phone number and its song in his or her brain, I bet!)

• Wisk:  Ring around the collar.

• Heinz Ketchup:  Anticipation.

• Folger's Coffee:  The best part of waking up is Folger's in your cup.

• Camel cigarettes: I'd walk a mile for a Camel.

• Green Giant vegetables: Ho, ho, ho, Green Giant. 

• Lucky Charms Cereal: They're magically delicious.

• Pantene Shampoo: Don't hate me because I'm beautiful . . .

• Tareyton cigarettes:  I'd rather fight than switch.

• Life Cereal:  Mikey likes it.

Ad Characters

• Budweiser beer: Spuds McKenzie, Budweiser frogs.

• Marlboro cigarettes: The Marlboro man.

• Rice Krispies:  Snap, Crackle, and Pop.

• Pillsbury:  The Pillsbury Dough Boy.

• McDonald's: Ronald McDonald, The Hamburglar, Mayor McCheese, etc.

• Betty Crocker.

• Mrs. Buttersworth.

• Aunt Jemima.

• Tony the Tiger.

• Joe Camel.

• The Trix Rabbit:  "Silly Rabbit, Trix are for kids."

• The Maytag Repairman.

• Mr. Whipple:  Charmin.

• The California Raisins:  "I heard it through the grapevine . . ."

Product Logos

• Gateway.

• Nike.

• Pepsi.

• Coke.

• Microsoft.

• Netscape.

• Mercedes Benz.
