The World of Work

Work Resources.

Employed

I quit my job this morning.

They couldn't understand
ducks
rippling across my mind
from shore to weeds & back
or down for grub.

What's more I didn't care
for their caring to keep me
behind a counter. Blue

moving into green on the hills
& the black snake
with red stripes the length of its body

stretch my eyes
beyond books

tell me I'm right,
I'm right.

Work Resources

Job Hunting

I want a job as a low cloud
Heavy as my wet wool cap
So If I'm hit
By lightning on the hill
I won't have to explain being out so late
Or how my socks got damp.

In the early morning I'll hang
Over evergreen branches
My ear lappers down
As lights go on
In the bedrooms
Alarm clocks ringing like words
Of the first awake.

Almost frozen
I drift sideways
Across the sky
Rain turning to snow.
